Danny’s Farmhands – Adult Vocational Training Program

Danny’s Farmhand Program offers wonderful opportunities for the employment of adults with disabilities in an enriching, stimulating, and healthful outdoor environment –seemingly from another place – if not another time.  Offered on the beautiful rural agricultural campus of California Polytechnic University, a crew of adults with disabilities works four hours a day, five days a week with full-time support from the Almansor Transition and Adult Services Program, a program of the Institute for the Redesign of Learning.  This program offers the opportunity for adults with Autism and other disabilities, including the eponymous Danny, to get real-life work experience assisting with the maintenance and care of the animals and program facilities while being supported and trained by agency job coaches every step of the way. Ongoing funding for Job Coaching Services is provided by the California Department of Rehabilitation.
